[Day 12 - Early Evening] Victory or Death

Description: Varo has ordered his children to live on, both reluctantly agreed as he boarded his command ship the Pride of Kryze. The Republic had brought their best and his forces could not stop them conventionally but this was his last duty to his wife, and he would make them bleed for every inch.

The Ship was on a crash course with the city and impact would devastate the region… he dared the Republic to stop him. Commander Malcom makes the call, this was a suicide mission… but if they didn’t do it, they could lose it all!

Tano or Tunda Kryze in Last Fight: 2#1d100 67 100

Rules: This is a combat event, the sides begin at Medium range as the Republic storms the bridge of the ship… the crew is… well there isn’t any crew. They arrive to find Varo Kryze, he will get two actions a turn one on his initiative and one at the end of the round, with his two of his most loyal Blooded Mandalorians.

The ship is on a collision course and the controls have been disabled, someone will have to guide the ship manually until the bitter end or the guidance system will guide it back to the city, a rather insidious form of suicide.

Someone will have to guide the ship manually if not then it will collide with the land and wreak terrible devastation. Instant loss of 35 Victory Points if the ship is not guided into the sea.

If no one commits to combat against Varo and his Blooded then he will be able to guide the ship via his armor overriding anything the players can do. Players can as an Action Bail Out, removing them from combat. Players have 5 rounds before impact.

Controlling the Ship: Players will have to get to the manual controls in Engineering, this will take one round of running. Once they arrive they will need to bypass the door, this is an Average Mechanics or Computers check, this is considered an action.

Once that is completed they can take control but they have to stay and guide the ship into the sea making the ultimate sacrifice. If the door is functional, they can lock it to keep people out; this is an incidental if the door is functional. This is a Heroic sacrifice.

Rewards/Outcome: 20 Victory Points if the Ships is directed into the Sea.

OOC: Just to clarify as long as Varo begins a round in combat he can't assert control until his turn on the following round. The player in engineering can break this control with a Daunting Computers, Skullduggery, or Mechanics check.

The time came, the moment of vengeance. Oddyn relished his date with death a little less than usual, he had two children to live for. But it had to be done. He had been fighting for the people he had little in common with, who hadn't shown Mandalorians enough respect, apparently having no concept of a worthy foe and seeing no value in war. It had all been the sacrifice he had taken so this moment could come, and there might be some way forward in his life after it. Whether he would live through this nexus or die, the afterwards would be different.

He well realised his chances against Varo had ever been slim. But they weren't non-existent, and that was good enough. The virtues his adoptive father had instilled in him he might have abided by a bit too literally, but this is how he was, a faithful Mando'ad, believing in his people and their rules. It was probably why Varo had spared him during the Moot, seeing something in Oddyn that was not common enough among their people, an oft-forgotten ideal. It had not bearing on what was about to transpire on the plunging ship. Varo had children that could inherit the Clan; his death was overdue.

Aran's body had been racing in its every rhythm on the approach to the ship. He thought about his upbringing in the Temple, and it occurred to him more starkly than ever before how little of the galaxy he had experienced in his short life. He had loved with a wonder both deep and childlike all that he had gotten a chance to see -- the planets, the ships, the sapients in all their variety and flaws. He looked out the viewport of the Republic attack shuttle at the oceans of Bankor -- a shuttle he had jumped on only at the last moment, in the chaos and confusion after the Republic had realized Kryze's murderous plan with mere minutes to respond. He thought, Perhaps I have seen all that I am destined to see.

He had no eyes to close, but turned his senses inwards and spoke quietly out loud.

"Emotion, yet peace.
Ignorance, yet knowledge.
Passion, yet serenity.
Chaos, yet harmony.
Death, yet the Force."


Then he looked out of himself again and smiled at his comrades-in-arms, most of whom he barely knew. As they moved through the ship towards the bridge, his breath and his pulse were even. And when he got there, he lit his saber with a flourish and struck up a high Shien guard, the blade angled downwards across his body.

"You will do no further harm to the people of Bankor, Varo Kryze. But make no mistake -- today, you are going down."

The Mandalorian Heavy took careful aim and then fired his repeating blaster cannon, spraying the combat zone with blaste fire striking both Oddyn and Hacha! Meanwhile the resistance fighters took up positions to support the Republic squad.

OOC: Blooded Heavy fired and hit and uses Autofire to hit a second person, Hacha, total damage is 16 wounds, Pierce 2 to Hacha and Oddyn, utilized True Aim Maneuver. Republic is up. Both Mandalorian Champion and Varo have Dodge, Varo has Dodge 2 and Champion has Dodge 1 and will use if targeted.

He added some blood-laced cough to the declaration. He then drugged himself quickly with some bacta coagulant or whatever they put in stims and tried to rain death on Varo.

Galen took a shot at the gunner. The slug glanced off the armor harmlessly, but the ricochet managed to catch the gun and jolting it from the man's hands. The hunter then dropped down to quickly administer a stimpack to Hacha.

Aran did not gasp as the Mandalorians opened up, but his breath did catch. Death, yet the Force! He was already speeding forward as he saw Galen shoulder his rifle, sure that he would take care of Hacha. He lowered his body to go below the line of the heavy repeating blaster's fire, and shifted his arm back to almost the opposite position from before -- low, behind his body, with the blade upright and mostly hidden by the flowing of his robes.
