[Day 1, ME] Know your enemy (Open)

It had been one of those days and showed no sign of ending with Rav seeing anything but the inside of this base. Or so he thought. Later he'd be sneaking through enemy territory just like the old days. For now though he was catching a break from the tinkering, banal but essential repairs, and 'socialising', which was how he thought of personal interactions lasting more than five minutes.

A pile of snacks was nearly stacked on the desk as he sat at one of the Republic personnel data terminals and got back to scrolling through old action reports. It had almost become something of a hobby. One of these days he was going to find what he was looking for. Picking up a large drink he'd got from the mess hall Rav slurped at it through a ridiculous long straw and trawled through old mission reports and assorted declassified intelligence.

He hadn't brought it up at the meeting about helping the resistance, it wasn't the right place for it. Too many bleeding hearts that didn't know the way of war.

This man seemed to know a few things about it though. Making his way into the barracks, he made a few inquires, before finding the man he was looking for. He taped a quick knock on the wall a few spaces away to announce himself before speaking. "Excuse me, but do you have a minute?"

The wolfman's ears perked up first, his eyes narrowing and moving to the composed human with the snappy hat. He slowly released the straw and set the drink down. Rav's expression changed slowly, going from suspicion to slight displeasure before he placed the guy, and then replaced it with suspicion again.

"Sure. You were there in the mess hall." He looked at the computer screen and back to the visitor. No sudden epiphany. He shrugged. "What can I do you for?"

Research for Rav

House Kryze at last recently has been responsible for attacks on the Republic and Empire, they eschew the old ways of Honor and believe that nothing is beyond the pale as long as victory is achieved. They enjoy causing massive damage and utilizing fear tactics to pacify their enemies.

A common tactic is to skin their prisoners and hang them in public places. They have been known to use terror strategies as well. They get jobs because they will work for anyone and nothing is too extreme. At the same time, they are very loyal to the house and treat their allies as blood-kin and seem to genuine care about their people, but everyone else… not so much.

Zane smiled and stepped closer. "Nothing much, just wanted to chat with you about a few of the things you mentioned earlier along the lines of sabotage and the like."

"I ran into a bit of it, scare tactics and the like. I suppose I could of mentioned it there, but figured it better that such information isn't spread around the camp, and you seemed expeirenced with it." He shrugged. "So here i am."

Rav nodded slowly and pointed to a chair nearby. "Come on over then. Just been reading up on our enemies."

He grabbed some sort of Republic issue biscuit and snarfed it. "Specialist Rav Devaroo, didn't catch your name." A paw was raised towards Zanebry for shaking.

"Zanebry Varliss." Z returned, reaching out a hand to shake the paw. "People call me Z." Taking the offered seat, he settled in.

"Happened earlier in the day. Investigating a village that had sent out a distress call. Seems some Mandolorians hopefuls had come into town. Strapped bomb vests to the locals and gave us a call."

"They wanted the villagers to blow themselves up, take a few of us with them. It was some sort of test for the populace apparently."

Rav bristled, his muzzle crinkling as he bared his teeth. Something indecipherable was uttered in his native language.

"I hate these freaking Mandos. Well this lot anyway." He jerked a thumb at the info on House Kryze. "Same sort of thing they were pulling on Balmorra." His expression became distant as half-remembered battles passed before his eyes.

"Well this was under the direction of someone from House Varad." He shook his head. "Eralynn of House Varad, nit that it makes mich difference."

"Seems she didn't take too kindly about the villagers not blowing us up either. Chatted with her over the comms for a few moments, and she was threatening the villages children." His lips drew into a thin line. "Figured something will need to be done about that, about her."

Rav shook his head and growled slightly before looking at the hat and nodding decisively. "Yeah, that shit ain't right. Freaking Mandos. Okay, got any suggestions for what that something might be?"

"Well, I'm a fan of putting her head on a spike, but that's likely frowned upon in the military." Z mused reaching into his jacket and pulling out his flask. "We should probably look into finding here though, maybe if we capture some Mando's we can do a little interrogating."

"In the mean time, should probably put together some primers, so any troops that run into this business know how to react." He offered Rav a smile. "Figured you might know something about that."

The Shistavanen's eyes widened at that as his memories took him straight back to Balmorra. A scratching sound could be heard as his claws dug into the desk. He shook himself

"Shit Zanebry. I've seen things I wouldn't wish on any of these newbies. But yeah, that's not a bad idea."

"You and me both Rav, but that's why folks like you and I are around, isn't it? Spare the kids from as many horror stories as we can." He shook his head, his own memories going back to project evolution.

"I'll look into it though, let you know what I find." They needed to put a stop to it after all.

"Yeah. Some things you can't unsee. If it ain't the freakin' Mandos is the freakin' Sith."

He looked into the eyes under the hat, questioningly.

"So...you still in The Biz? Or whatever the heck they call it these days?"

"That's the truth." Z said with a shake of his head. "Been on a few Imperial worlds in my time. They aren't pretty."

He smirked at that. "If you're asking if I go galivanting around the galaxy, sticking my nose into other people's business. Then yes. Don't do it for anyone anymore, well not officially. Pick my own jobs, the ones I feel are the right ones. Its why I'm here."

Rav just nodded and shrugged. "Figured it was something like that. 'Course if you are working for someone, you'd say the same thing." He sighed. "Me, I'm just tired of seeing folks suffer and no-one doing anything about it."

that brought a smirk to his lips and he shook his head. "True enough, though if you ever want to know a bit more about me you can ask Captain Organa, I've worked with him on a project in the past."

"I do know that feeling." Hell, he had been the one to cause that suffering more then a few times. "The galaxy isn't a very kind place to alot of people. You do what you can though."
