Baesal was kneeling with charts and maps lying on the floor before her. She was taking notes left and right, preparing what would be needed to be done for the morrow.

After having left the medical tent ( . . . thrown out) and not needing immediate recharge Veeone's logical circuits deemed internal camp patrol as the next most important task.

So it patrolled.

Inside the camp.

Until it's way was blocked by maps and schematics on the floor.


"Is this blockage necessary Unknown Jedi of Unknown Rank?"

''Wut?'' Baesal raised her head, confused

She looked at the droid then at the papers and finally at the rest of the space around her

''I am pretty sure I am not blocking anything...''

"Any unnecessary obstruction of base space could block anyone in an emergency situation. Is this blockage necessary Unknown Jedi of Unknown Rank?"

''It helps me prepare for what will be done by the work team tomorrow...'' she stood up looking the droid up and down

''I have never seen a model like you, not quite. I am padawan Baesal Zyn...and you are?''

"If work is important then temporary blockage is acceptable, Padawan Zyn. This droid is designated Veeone-Veeoh. Prototype Combat Assault and Medical Support Droid manufactured by . . . FILE DELETED."


The head swivelled to one side slightly while trying to access the deleted file.

''Manufactured by file deleted, huh?''

''Both combat and medical support? You must be a very valuable prototype for the Republic''

"Veeone considers self lucky to serve the glorious Republic, although there seems to be sufficient medical staff at present, so Veeone's combat protocols are primary."

Considering he had a heavy blaster cannon and was festooned with grenades this was probably obvious.

''Awesome'' She turned around the droid inspecting it ''Are you limited to those roles or can you perform other functions?''

"By product of combat abilities are considerable lifting capacity and basic mechanical repair. Logic circuits allow for law enforcement protocols but corresponding datafiles have not been uploaded as yet."

''Ohh'' she nodded seeming impressed

''Are you busy tomorrow?''

"Duty rosters for battledroids have not been posted yet."

There was a brief whirr and a small burst of binary.

"Unless Mandalorian units assault this base then Veeone will be left to duties as determined by logic circuits."

She crossed her arms

''I see...I am asking because a bunch of us will be going to help build canalisation to bring running water to the refugee camp. As a part medical droid I am sure you understand the need for such a thing''

"Uncontaminated water benefits all."

The droid made a semblance of a nod.

"All organic forms require it, Padawan Zyn."

''If you are free then we certainly would welcome your help if you agree to it Veeone-Veeoh''

"Roger, roger, Padawan Zyn. Veeone is here to further Republic goals. Aiding the native Bankoran Resistance is one of those goals. May Veeone ask what Mandalorian threats are known in the work area?"

''I am not sure...but the task force will reclaim the city soon, I think?''

"Veeone is certain of Republic Victory soon, but the Mandalorian enemy must not be underestimated. Veeone calculates a 87.14% likelihood of Mandalorian counterstrike within the next twelve hours."

Baesal stood silent for a second

''That makes sense. What do you think we can do to prepare?''

"The perimeter is established. We must remain alert and ready to strike back instantly at any Mandalorian aggression. It is vital the Republic beachhead be protected."

There was another of the strange whirr click sounds he emitted occasionally.

"We must meet force with equal or greater force."

The whirr click got Baesal's attention

''Say, what was the last time you passed through maintenance?''

"Veeone passed mandatory maintenance in hyperspace before the planetary landing."

The optical receptors narrowed and widened.

"Why does Padawan Zyn ask? All battledroids are maintained to maximum efficiency within the Republic Army."

''There is an odd clicking noise'' she brought her head closer to see if she could hear it again ''Might be a sudden malfunction or a loose piece''

"Veeone has internal space available for upgrades. Not all equipment was fully installed at moment Veeone left creator's manufacturing base."

The droid looked blankly at the togruta.

"This has not impacted on operational performance."

''Maybe not...but if there is combat and something has gotten loose then there can be complications after an impact''
