Sabine was sitting on a couch, watching the news playing on the holo. Important military stuff... and rumors of a possible Vera Hawke propaganda tour? Ugh.

"She can't even act!" She yelled at no one in particular, holding a bottle of local beer in her hand. It was nice stuff... strong, as expected.

Vera Hawke... the name elicited an instant groan from a passing padawan. That bitch had stolen part of Layne's style and made it into a joke. Part of her hoped that the next time they'd meet, she'd have learned to choke people through the force. Master would be so proud.

Sabine turned her head towards the groan. "Another fan?" Her voice was dripping in good natured sarcasm.

"She's an annoying airhead on and offscreen," she said with a nod.

"Yeah... I'm surprised her cleavage doesn't have its own billing." She raised a glass of beer towards the other one. "Sabine Kryze, sergeant off-duty. Wanna join? There might be giving us the latest Huttball scores soon."

"Layne Hoshin," she said, "Jedi, in case it isn't obvious."

She moved to take a seat.

"I should've made bets."

"Any favorite team, master Jedi?" Apparently the Jedi did not seem to associate Sabine's last name with their opponents... polite or just ignorant? Nobody knew.

Sabine scooted over to give room to Layne, and took another sip.

Indeed, Layne was pretty politically ignorant, which might be surprising given the political mad genius of her former master. In that sense, unbeknowns to either of them it seemed, they had in common the fact they were both associated with 'the enemy'.

"I don't know about any teams," she said, taking a seat, "I just like earning free credits."

Not your typical Jedi.

Sabine let out a small laugh. "Oh? Seems you're lucky. I don't usually bet. Have better way to get rid of credits." She took another sip, and stretched her legs. "Arrival went ok?"

"Only won one time. But that was also the only time I've made a bet. Helped that I knew some of the players on the team. Helped even more that they were the lightsaber carrying kind."

She cracked her neck, getting some of the stiffness left over from earlier out.

"Didn't have any issues."

"Oh, a gambler and an athlete? And a Jedi?" She let out a laugh, though she did eye the woman sitting in front of herself, taking her in fully. "That sounds like borderline cheating."

"Cheating? At a game run by Hutts? I'm shocked."

"Yeah. Drink every time someone cheats in Huttbal.... actually let's not do that, otherwise we'll be drunk throughout the campaign." She let out a sigh, and stretched herself, relaxing the muscles. Not that they were abused, but she wanted to get as much energy as she could. "You are here as part of the Jedi reinforcements? Met a padawan the other day."

"Something like that," she said, not divulging the real reason she was here. "There seem to be a few of us already out making trouble. Mandadorkians don't know what they're in for."

"Mandadorkian?" She asked incredulously. "Did you make that up?" She wasn't sure to be offended or amused.

"Maybe? Why? You like it?"

"I.... don't know." She leaned back, and eyed her beer. "Not sure to be offended or impressed...."

"Why'd you be offended?"

Yep, Layne definitely hadn't really figured it out yet.

She raised a hand. "Su cuy'gar non-Mandalorian." The bottle of beer found a place on the ground near her leg.

"Uhhh... okay?"

She had no idea what had been said of course; and was a bit out of her element. The old Layne would've reacted with a punch to the face probably, or something in that direction anyway. The new Layne though, realized that was probably poor etiquette.

Sabine leaned back. "Hrm... Mandadorkian... it's actually pretty clever. Stick it to the other side for now, though. Would prefer no inter-service bloodshed." She smiled, and picked up her beer again.

"Sorry I guess. Didn't know you were one of 'em. No armor, y'know."

Sabine chuckled. "I'll make sure to wear it next time. I don't wear it off-duty. It's a beautiful piece, but I don't want to wear it all day long if I don't have to." She looked at the other woman. "You don't wave your lightsaber around either, though."

"Lightsabers. Plural." she patted the ones at her side. "Waving them around all the time tends to upset other Jedi. Found that out the hard way."

"More than one? In case you lose one? Or one is for opening cans, or?" She asked curiously. "Really.... accidentally decapitate someone?"
