Veeone was in the Republic Hangar, fresh from making sure the monks did not burn down the forest around them. It was testing out the new attachment on his blaster rifle.
"This modification is not at full capacity. There is space for improvement."
It intoned in it's ever so droidy voice.

Open but expecting.

Rav was in a contemplative mood after the experience with the monks. You could tell because he wasn't yelling at anyone. It had been a weird day all in all.
Wiping his hands with a oily rag he got up from under the Spitfire and stretched. It was amazing the thing wasn't completely destroyed, let alone fixable. Watching the droid his ears pricked up.
"Watcha got there Veeone?"

Veeone turned at the noise from under the starfighter. It saluted and then straightened.
"Specialist Devaroo. Veeone has installed a modification to the DH-X Heavy Blaster Rifle that is currently not operating at maximum potential. It has improved bolt coherency by nine point oh nine percent but simulations predict that can be improved by another eighteen point one eight percent and additional modification can improve accuracy by an equal amount."
Veeone looked down again.
"Veeone was computing most efficient order of increase with funds and resources available."

Nodding in agreement the mechanic looked at the weapon carefully. "As far as the simulations go, I'll take your word for it buddy. Let me get my blaster kit and we can take a closer look."
He was about to go but stopped. "Come with me, we can walk and talk on the way."

Veeone collected its weapon and turned to follow Rav.
"Roger, roger."

"So what exactly are you looking for Veeone? More stopping power? More armour piecing? Improved accuracy? There's a lot that could be done for that sort of weapon."
He walked over to where his kit was stored and grabbed his backpack. "I made a workbench for doing this sort of thing."

"Bolt coherency is already sufficient to breach most personal armours with little degradation to damage capacity. To maximise damage potential processors suggest improved accuracy on the spin barrel augmentor would be the best approach."
The droid indicated the modifications required.

Accuracy please. First mod on the attachment.

Veeone held the gun unmoving while Rav worked.
"That is complete, Specialist Devaroo. Interfacing with ranged combat sub routines now . . . "
Veeone tracked the gun around the hangar, beeping occasionally."
"Significant improvement according to simulations. Veeone thanks Specialist Devaroo."

"Hey, you're welcome Veeone. Maybe we can take another look at it tomorrow and increase the damage output?". He watched the droid as it walked around testing out some simulations.
"You keeping yourself busy between missions?"

The droid swivelled as if tracking multiple targets with a sweep of the heavy weapon before replying.
"Affirmative. This unit has been performing multiple patrol and guard duties at this facility while not required for actual combat missions. This unit assumes there have been relatively light casualties so far as it has not been called for medical service within the base since beachhead was established. Lack of enemy fortifications has meant that Veeone's primary function has not been required as of yet."
