[D6, MA] A drop for the dead, a drink for the living

It seemed as good a place as any. Broken and trashed, at least there was a bar. Craw sat on a wooden stool that had survived the invading mandalorians. He was holding a bottle. The label was burned off and the glass was black with soot, but the liquid inside was largely undamaged. He held it in his hands and considered it tiredly.

Sabine arrived in fatigues, holding a bottle in her own hand. Her movement was stiff, and there was a sadness around her.

"Su c'uy!" She greeted the man.

Craw nodded, absentmindedly still staring at the blackened bottle.

"Su cuy'gar."

Sabine sat down next to the other Mando, and raised her bottle to him. "Sandshine." She sighed.

"She's fighting somewhere else now."

Craw nodded and closed his eyes.

"Yeah she's... Yeah. She's fighting somewhere else, somewhere where I'll never follow her. She's not gone gone I know, but she's lost to me..."

He put the bottle on the bar, still staring at it.

Sabine offered her own bottle. "Local shine." She sighed. "Why is that?" She asked, unsure about what happened with Craw.

Craw smiled a small sad smile and turned to look at Sabine.

"Oh, haven't you heard? I've been denied a burial and a place in the Manda. I'll never follow her there..." He paused closing his eyes. "Because I'm a failure and a fuck up, because I've never been anything else. Guess it's in my genes."

Sabine frowned. "No... what happened?" That sounded really severely fucking awful. She took another gulp. "If you care to talk about it."

Craw shook his head.

"This was back when I was still drinking, whiskey was cheaper than lullabies y'know? I got a job, which I fucked up because a crewmate of mine had their own ambitions. So I got even more plastered than usual and... Made a damn fool of myself. Some people took exception to that and... Well..." He paused, looking at the blackened bottle again. "I never did redeem myself. Ain't got enough honor in me for that. Don't think I ever had."

Sabine frowned. "Just for one fucked up job? I fucked a whole lot more than that, and they never bothered to deny me that. That's a kriffing injustice! Who do I need to talk to?"

Craw sighed.

"It weren't just that... The job just... It was the tipping point. I think mainly it was... It was because of what I did to Nai..." He paused to pick up the bottle and open it.

Sabine frowned. "What happened? She... was sad about the breakup, I kinda got that. I think." She reached to pat him on the shoulder.

Craw sniffed the opened bottle and scrunched his face.

"No, I... We were bound to get married, you know? She was the love of my life and we were bound to get married... But I... I fucked it up. As I usually do. Everything I touch it... Just crumbles." Craw closed his eyes and sighed before continuing. "The night before the wedding I panicked, I got scared, I got drunk and I stole a ship and ran away. I left her at the altar. Until a year ago she was still gunning for my head, I ain't blaming her. I'd deserve it."

Sabine was eerily silent... Nai did not mention that. "I'm.. sorry. We all make mistakes, Craw. You saw me make mine during the Moot." She sighed. "I'm.. sorry to hear. I'm sure you can make it up in some way?"
