[Tethys Carrack]

With her thermal cloak thrown partially back over one shoulder to leave at least one arm free to move, Tethys stands in the entry to the main hall of the denuded casino, digging her boot toe into the once-rich carpet and looking around herself with a skeptical expression. Not very impressive for a warlord's den. Maybe the gold-trimmed drinking horns and skull goblets were all light enough to carry away, she thinks sardonically.

[Azura Mora]

A casino? That sounded exciting! Azura certainly wanted to see that! She got directions from confused looking people, then made her way over...to find an empty casino.

She deflated. It was a terrible, terrible sight. No gaming tables, no drinking...no fun? This was the worst!

She hadn't noticed Tethys quite yet....

[Tethys Carrack]

Tethys glides further into the room, pausing to inspect a gaming table. Fine bare wires sprouting like forlorn tufts of grass from a few points around its circumference catch her eye, and she looks a bit closer, rubbing a fingertip over the ragged pinhole in the faux-wood surface where one set of wires emerges. Concealed vid lenses, unless I miss my guess. Never bet against the house. The corner of her mouth twitches up in a dry semi-smile.

Then she senses movement and looks up. Spotting Azura, she holds still and quiet--not frozen, just unobtrusive. She rather imagines that if she calls out a greeting too soon, the young mercenary might spook right back out the door like a startled sand-rat.

Azura hopped over one of the sides to the main floor, looking around. Maybe they'd have not picked the whole place dry before fleeing out.

"Ugh" she said after a few moments, kicking one of the tables over "what a waste. Should have tried to..." there was a pause, as something caught the corner of her eye. She spun round, blaster out, and paused. Staring right at Tethys.

"Oh" was all she said.

[Tethys Carrack]

"Hi." Tethys meets the young woman's eyes, smiling faintly. "Good morning." One hand still rests on the battered gaming table; she holds the other hand open at her side, empty palm toward Azura.

[Azura Mora]

"...Morning" Azura lowered the blaster "you're lucky I don't shoot without looking. Why are you here?"

She hadn't put the weapon away just yet, but it wasn't pointed at the Jedi anymore.

"Found anything worth looking at?"

[Tethys Carrack]

"We're both lucky, then," Tethys says calmly, with a there-and-gone quirk of one eyebrow. "And yes, from a certain point of view. I've learned the former owners of this place didn't trust entirely to luck themselves." She flicks the tuft of optical wires with a finger. "I've learned something about the ambitions this city had before the occupation. And I've learned Yunda Kryze doesn't give much thought to carpet cleaning."

[Azura Mora]

There was a small smirk at the last part.

"Yeah, seems like they know how to loot and not clean up after themselves. Maybe it's a Mando trait" she shrugged "didn't think you'd be the type to go to a casino though. Gambling doesn't seem like a Jedi thing to do."

[Tethys Carrack]

“That would depend very much on the Jedi in question.” Her lips quirk for a moment. “Though I didn’t expect to find gambling in this establishment, at least not today. I wanted to see what Kryze’s lair looked like once he was done with it.”

[Azura Mora]

"I kind of hoped he had left something...stupjd Mandos. Ugh" Azura frowned more "did you find what you were expecting? Looks like it's basically a shell for whatever people want to do with it now."

She shrugged, looking around.

"It looks pretty crappy."

[Tethys Carrack]

"The place is... stained. In more ways than one." Tethys shrugs one shoulder, eyeing a mysterious dark spot on the wall with a dubious expression. "I wonder what use the people of Rygor will put it to next? It will be some time before the city can support a gambling house this size again."

She glances back at Azura. "What sort of treasures were you hoping Kryze left behind?"

[Azura Mora]

"I dunno. Maybe a few tables of games?" Azura shrugged "really, I hadn't expected much to be left, but it would have been fun to find a casino mostly functioning and ready to play. Never been into one before in all my travels, but I guess the wait goes on!"

Azura sighed, and leaned against a wall.

"I don't think I said before...but nice work before. In the fight."

[Tethys Carrack]

Tethys considers her answer for a moment before settling on, "Thank you. I shouldn't have lost my temper as I did, though."

She smiles slightly at Azura. "You were very brave."

[Azura Mora]

"Eh, I did what I did" Azura shrugged "wasn't really brave or anything. Stupid maybe, but we killed it. Why does getting angry matter? That it died and nobody else was killed or eaten by it seems to be more important. If a bit of rage meant you could crush it easier, then why not" another shrug "never got the whole 'oh no dark' or 'oh no light' from Jedi and Sith. Everything you do has both elements to it really, so why care?"

[Tethys Carrack]

"Because the decisions you make--the way you use the power--changes you." Tethys leans her hip against the edge of the ruined pazaak table, shifting some of her weight onto it and adopting a somewhat more relaxed posture. "Believing those decisions won't shape your mind is is rather like believing gravity wells won't affect you. I don't like the person I'd be under that other gravity... I don't imagine you would care for her either."

[Azura Mora]

Azura rolled her eyes.

"It only changes you if you let it change you. You are who you are, and all this focus on if you do X you become Y just ingrains it into your head as fact. I'm me, and I'll be me no matter what I do because I did it. And to be honest...I think I liked squishing-bug-Jedi, because she didn't sit around worrying that her actions might affect her, because her actions saved everyone in that city. Me included."

[Tethys Carrack]

"Choosing to use the power is deciding to let it change you. We don't get to choose which of our decisions count." Tethys shrugs. "If not for me, Arali would have caught the creature in that trap. It ended either way. I am not 'sitting around and worrying,' just resolving to be smarter next time."

Her lips quirk with dark humor. "The Tethys who crushes her enemies in anger would not have had much patience for your attitude either, so you may want to reeveluate."

[Azura Mora]

Azura narrowed her eyes.

"Then that Tethys might have a fight on her hands. Good thing you're not that Tethys, right?"

She took a moment before speaking again.

"Look, I'm not interested in fighting another Jedi, even if Darius had the advantage of me being already quite injured at the time."

[Tethys Carrack]

"Yes, it is," Tethys agrees equably. "That's what I just said. Who's Darius?"

[Azura Mora]

Azura gave the woman a look.

"He's a Jedi knight. Kinda tallish, white hair, had two sabers. He's a Jedi knight, how do you not know who he is?"

[Tethys Carrack]

"That is an excellent question." Tethys frowns, two vertical lines appearing between her brows. "I thought I did know all the Jedi on Bankor at present. But I've never heard of anyone by that name. A human with white hair? I would remember meeting someone that distinctive." She turns a probing gaze on Azura. "And... you got in a fight with him?"

[Azura Mora]

"He provoked me, and I lashed out. He was lucky I was already injured otherwise I'd have killed him" Azura huffed "but no matter. Won't make the same mistake a second time! He was pretty stuck up for a Jedi, moreso than normal at least."

[Tethys Carrack]

"That sounds... extremely questionable, to tell you the truth." Tethys's frown deepens. Any Jedi should have easily known better than to throw sparks at this tinderbox. "I'll have to look into it. Were either of you hurt?"

I hope not... but I have a bad feeling about this.

[Azura Mora]

"Eh, other than a failed choke and a minor cut..." Azura shrugged "I'm fine. I'm still here and still more than ready to fight. Dairus won't be able to say the same if he pokes at me again."

[Tethys Carrack]

"He... choked you?" She looks genuinely thunderous for a moment, before a deep breath smooths out her expression.

"My sincere advice is that you avoid this person, not engage him. That's an exceptionally dark act, and he would have to be strong in the Force even to attempt it." She tilts her head a little to the side as she regards Azura with a gentler look. "You seem like a survivor. Don't do anything you'll regret."
