"You don't seem like the type for excuses," he numbed the area around her eyes, relaxing the muscles. It was perhaps fortunate that the Chiss couldn't see what he was doing, as he held her eyelids open and used a small suction cup to pop one of her eyes out of its socket, placing a piece of gauze on her cheek and sitting the eyeball on that. He carefully re-positioned the retina, securing it with a single dissolving stitch, and re-situated the eye with a soft popping sound.
He moved to the other side of the bed, and repeated the process. Already, the woman would find her vision returning. "The muscles you use to focus your vision have been relaxed," he informed her, "so your eyesight will still be fuzzy for a few more hours, but it should be better than it was. If you aren't seeing normally in the morning, come back and see me."
