[Dr. Cole Ormont]

Just as he had on Nar Shaddaa, Cole gathered his belongings and ventured out in search of an ad hoc civilian clinic to apply his skills where they were needed. As he moved through the streets, endeavouring to avoid the worst of the fighting, he was caught unawares by the unstable wall of a building that had been demolished. Rubble, shaken loose by a nearby explosion, tumbled about him, a chunk of stone catching him on the shoulder as he attempted to duck out of the way.

Finding a clinic that had been set up in the hall of an evacuated school, he jammed a stimpack in his arm on his wounded side, looking about to assess the current situation.

Galen had done his best to keep out of sight, but that didn't help against random debris.

He looked around for a building that could be concealing a clinic, or anyplace the locals may have gone to take cover.

[Dr. Cole Ormont]

Once Cole's shoulder loosened up, he moved to Galen's side, "were you injured?" He tapped the arm of his spectacles to switch them on, producing his mediscanner like a magician with a palmed coin.

[Galen Sol]

"Yeah, my leg." he grunted.

[Dr. Cole Ormont]

"Sit, sit," he instructed, "I'll take a look before I start in on," he indicated to the gathered wounded and ill. Cole adjusted his spectacles and snapped on a pair of gloves, of which he seemed to have an endless supply, guiding Galen to a nearby chair.

Galen sat down as instructed. "Alright, Doc. Thank you."

[Dr. Cole Ormont]

Dropping on one knee, Cole pushed up the man's pant leg to expose the gash. "Mmm, not too deep," he flushed the wound with a splash of saline and pinched the muscle back together, From a needle-tipped dropper, he sealed the cut with cyanoacrylate, holding it in place for a long moment. He sprayed synthflesh to seal the skin, the repair almost invisible. "There you go, won't even scar."

Galen grinned. "Good as new. You're very skilled."

[Dr. Cole Ormont]

Cole offered a casual salute of thanks. "I hope you're not squeamish, I may need an extra hand now and then." He got to his feet, stretched his back, and looked about for someone in charge. Spotting a likely target, the surgeon inclined his head in their direction, "let's go introduce ourselves."

"I've seen my share of horrible things, doctor. It's possible you can show me worse, but I have my doubts." he shook his head. "Lead the way."

[Dr. Cole Ormont]

Cole curtly nodded in approval, and approached what appeared to be a doctor moving amongst the make-shift cots, "doctor?"

The woman turned and eyed the pair, "if you're injured, you can find a bed, and I'll get to you as soon as I can. If you're not, I'll have to ask you to move along."

Running a hand through his curls, "no, we're not injured. I'm Doctor Cole Ormont, Galactic Republic Navy, Rank Captain. This is Galen Sol, he's aiding the Republic forces. We'd like to offer you whatever assistance we can."

She seemed sceptical, but Cole's blue fatigues and stripes seemed to be enough to convince her that he was on the level. "Start over there," she pointed.

Galen nodded when introduced, but said nothing himself. He looked around, taking a quick count of the wounded.

[Dr. Cole Ormont]

Cole headed in the direction indicated, casting an expert eye over the patients as he passed, stopping abruptly. On a cot, a young Sullustan was groaning, his dark eyes and nose streaming with a yellowish fluid, his skin pale, also with a yellowish hue. “Skrog,” the Doctor spat, immediately hunkering down next to the bed.

"Skrog?" Galen asked with curiosity.

[Dr. Cole Ormont]

Cole quickly loaded a hypospray, “Sullustans can’t metabolise COX-2 analgesics,” he applied the injection, rapidly switching out the compact drug phial for another. “It’s probably all they had,” the surgeon administered the second injection. Putting away the hypospray, he lifted a corner of the sheet, revealing the patient’s arm; it was swollen, the skin dark and covered with pimple-like bumps.

“Erythema multiforme,” he covered up the Sullustan again, and reached for the outdated datapad that was attached to the foot of the cot. He tapped some notes, and replaced it, getting to his feet. “I’ll make sure I leave some hydromorphinone with the doctor here, but it will be touch and go for him.”

[Galen Sol]

He nodded. He didn't understand all of the terms, but he could appreciate the basic issue. "I can see why you do this and the need for volunteers like you. It must be challenging, at times."

[Dr. Cole Ormont]

Without realising, Cole massaged his thigh, “at times,” he agreed distantly. The moment of reflection passed quickly, and the surgeon resumed his assessment of the patients, looking for those in most dire need of his help.

— a patient Cole treats gives him and Galen a message to relay to the Resistance camp.
— a Resistance fighter is brought in critically injured and Galen assist Cole in treating him.
— Galen and Cole stumble on a piece of Mandalorian armour or weapon and retrieve it to turn over to Captain Alderaan.

In through the door as if on cue a trio of resistance fighters stumble in, one bleeding from a head wound!

"Doc, you have more customers." Galen advised.

[Dr. Cole Ormont]

Cole went into action without missing a beat, pointing to the nearest empty cot. It didn’t take a surgeon to see the copious bleeding, or the sheen of sweat on too-pale skin. In a clear, calm voice he instructed the fighters to lay their companion down, “Galen, put these on and bring that light closer,” he was holding out a pair of the disposable gloves he wore, and indicating to a nearby lamp.

They lay the patient down, her wound is bleeding and she is no responsive but breathing.

"Yessir." he nodded. He put the gloves on and moved the lamp. "Here?"

[Dr. Cole Ormont]

"Here, shine that on this," he indicated the streaming wound, his expert fingers extracting a measure of some clear fluid from a phial. He irrigated the scalp, and the blood immediately began to coagulate, becoming a lumpy gelled mass. Passing Galen a squeeze bottle with a hooked nozzle, "I need you to flush away the blood while I work. Don't worry about it being in my way, just keep up a slow, even stream."

As the blood washed away, Cole could see a chip of bone missing from the woman's skull, he wasn't confident that he had the equipment to handle this, and feared that he wouldn't be able to control the swelling of the fighter's brain.

The patient slipped into a coma… Cole is unsure if he will recover from it, at least with the equipment on hand. His team seems thankful but confused at what will happen now.

One spoke, “Will she be okay?”

Cole’s expression was concerned, “she’s stable, for now. But we need to get her back to the Republic camp. Her brain is swelling, and I have neither the drugs to counter that, nor the tools I need to relieve the pressure. I’ve bought her more time, but not a lot of it.” He glanced to his companion, he never put a hand through his hair with surgical gloves on, but his shoulder twinged as he suppressed the urge.

“Galen and I can escort you back to camp.” He turned his attention back to the woman, watching with concern as her vitals were displayed in the glass of his spectacles. Peeling off his bloodied gloves, he pushed his fingers through his curls, “we’ll need to make a litter from the sheets.”
