The droid had arrived at the area known as "The Blight". The doctor's orders were clear. Find fresh specimens. Bring back specimens. He wasn't sure why the doctor had wanted these things. Only that he had a unique advantage in possibly obtaining them. He paused on the outskirts, eyes gazing the perimeter. The earlier imagery still bothered him. Was this a sample of his programming failing? Was this what his makers had stated concern about?

His body briefly contorts, and shakes, spraying accumulated rain on his surroundings.

No. He would prove he was a good droid. He would follow commands and return with the requested items.

The Droid's ears angled and it's head swiveled. The amount of feedback from the area was intense. It attempted to pick up any form of danger.

“A droid tu’kata pup,” a voice registered in the droid’s aural sensors. The visual sensors locked onto her form as she rose strode through the rain and muck.

“Who owns you, little droid, why have you come so far from home?”

It's ears perked in response, and it's head tilted in response.

"This unit is currently a prototype in development, tasked with wilderness retrieval and rescue. It has been requested to collect several indigenous species in the area by a medical professional."

It raised it's paw slightly, shaking moisture from it.

"This unit did not expect to encounter any sentient organics."

“Go home little droid, this is not your place and you intrude on the graves and lands of the people,” the woman responded.

The unit lowered it's head and emitted a whimper.

"This unit apologizes, it believed due to environmental circumstances the area was not inhabited. This unit had no intention of disturbing any people present unless they needed medical aid. "

It tilted it's head a moment.

"Inquiry: This unit is forbidden from collecting any wildlife specimens?"

“This lands belongs to the people, if you wish to take from them then they will take their flesh price on you, or in your case, metal-price. Blood demands blood,” she replied calmly.

“Nothing is forbidden but all things have a cost.”

"Inquiry: May this unit have a designation for the people present to advise the doctor why specimens could not be retrieved?"

It continued to display no sign of aggression, actually back pedaling slightly.

“I am Iyana Miu, first among the Aznuri and rightful Master of the Way. You bear the marking of pain, so you know that we value Strength and Wisdom. Now run along little droid,” she responded.

The Droid does indeed turn and run along, back to the decontamination area before returning to the base.

He had failed in his task.

He was not a good droid.
