"Yes, I think you have the idea," she says with a firm nod. "Peace, serenity, harmony--these are all things we can seek in ourselves to draw closer to the Light Side of the Force. The more a Jedi keeps to them, the stronger their connection to the Light Side becomes, and the easier it is for them to find harmony in the universe. "

"Ah'm gettin' the impression y'all are livin' life on hard mode." Garth opines as he wonders whether he could live up to these standards, and decides he's probably not strong enough to live the Code all the time, but he can try to keep it in mind.

"Ah guess it's somethin for me ta strive for. Can't expect to master it on day one after all. Lunda said that most of y'all have been living by these guidelines for most o' yer lives?"

[Tethys Carrack]

"Hard mode?" Tethys considers this. "In the long run it's no harder than the alternative, in its own way. Different, certainly." She smiles slightly. "It is a constant practice, to live by the Code. Most of us take a long time to become truly used to it. It does become easier... never perfectly easy, I think."

[Garth Wayne]

"Well, hard mode cos most of the 'verse doesn't know about this, or at least don't know the perils. Ah've always lived mah life try'n ta be good to others, but well, ah'm pretty sure most 20-something males in the 'verse could be described as rather...passionate. In one pursuit or another. Yet they ain't turnin evil in droves? Is it just us that feels it that gets affected by it?"

"Ain't nothing perfectly anything," Garth interjects at Tethys' last point. "Some things are worth the effort though."

"People like you... and me, yes, we are at greater risk. From a certain point of view." The look she directs at him is at least supposed to be reassuring. "Because we can touch the power of the Dark Side, feel it and understand it. The ones who fall--they do get strength, of a kind. Any time we get in a fight with another being or feel afraid, every lover's quarrel... they can all be turned to power." She straightens her spine a bit, sitting up taller as if to resist the malign influences she's talking about. "The Order says the Dark Side becomes like an addiction, and from what I've seen, it is true. The call isn't as strong for those who don't feel it directly."

[Garth Wayne]

"Sooo....eternal vigilance then? Guess that's the price we pay for being touched by the 'verse." Garth sighs and stands, ruffling his hands through his hair.

"If ah feel this darkness, can ah come talk to you again. It might not have seemed like much, but ah think this helped wi' some questions."

[Tethys Carrack]

"Of course you can." Tethys smiles slightly. "I can show you some breathing exercises, too. If you have a dream like that again, or you feel you might... they may help steady your mind in a better place."

[Garth Wayne]

"Sure," Garth replies, the mention of breathing exercises subconsciously compelling him to take a deep breath. "That'd be nice."

She smells good

"See ya 'round then Ms Carrack."

[Tethys Carrack]

"Until next time, Garth. And please, call me Tethys." Still smiling, she gets up from her spot on the bed with only a slight wince to show him out. It's almost entirely unnecessary in this tiny box of a room, but... reflex is reflex.

[Garth Wayne]

"A'ight, Tethys it is. Y'all have a good night okay and try t' take it easy." He adds as he notices her stiffness and pain.

Tethys lets the door slide closed, then sighs and picks at the edges of her synthflesh dressing for a few moments before reaching for her datapad. There's still time to prepare a little more for the Staff meeting.
