[Rekto the Hutt]

Rekto slithered into the hangar. Not knowing who he was looking for, he simply fired up the comm he had been given, sweeping the industrial panorama with his lime, dispassionate gaze.

[Rav Devaroo]

There was a startled growl from underneath one of the particularly battlescarred Spitfires. "Jenkins! How many times?! I left that thing turned off for a reason."

More grumbling followed before a large Shistavanen emerged on a wheeled board. He pulled up his welding goggles and looked around. Obviously it didn't take long to notice the rather large slug.

"Hey, if it ain't my favourite random caller."

[Rekto the Hutt]

"Rekto Vanderijar Qunre." Rekto corrected. "I am not random. You may or may not be." He had already been slithering that direction along and S-line since the comm had blipped. The creature was over 3 metres high and double that long. Its maw could probably goble a mid-sized humanoid. In his hands, he was carrying a vibro-ax that resembled none of the commonly available designs. It looked original, and antique. "But if you take good care of the blade of my ancestors you'll be my favourite tinkerer."

"Heh, such a charmer. I'm Rav Devaroo, Specialist. Pleased to meet you I guess." Rav wiped his hands on his coveralls and looked up at the Hutt, offering a hand and taking note of the axe. The wolf let out a whistle.

"Seriously? Is that an original? I've only seen one in a museum. What am I saying? You're a Hutt, you probably own the museum."

He looked genuinely interested in the old tech the Hutt was holding.

[Rekto the Hutt]

"It is from a museum. It has about 20 millenia. It is the weapon of Rollo, my ancestor, who wielded it in the Third Battle of Vontor." The Hutt considered, then passed it to the mechanic for closer inspection. It was a deadly one, with serrated, molecular-wide edge. "The grip needs work."

[Rav Devaroo]

"King Rollo huh? I thought he was a legend." Rav switched the setting in his goggles and took a closer look at the ancestral weapon. "Yeah you can tell it's genuine. They don't make power converters like that anymore."

He turned it over in his hands to look at the grips, and up at the Hutt.

"Yeah, probably still set for whoever used it last. I can set this up for you. Cost you for parts but nothing too expensive."

[Rekto the Hutt]

"Good. I'll cover the expenses. Living up to Rollo's ferocious example takes priority."

Cash was dispensed.

[Rav Devaroo]

Cash was received as Rav pulled out his datapad and began to plan the modification.

"Let's take it over to the workstations and get an imprint of your big ol' paws. Maybe you can tell me more about how you came to be a warrior. No offence but it ain't what Hutts are known for."

[Rekto the Hutt]

"Not today." Rekto agreed. "Out of preference rather than lack of ability. We usually have the Gamorrans, Klatooinians, Nikto or Weequay to do the job on this rare occasion when there's a need to go to war. And when we do, there's usually no-one left alive or willing to tell the tale. Also because they forget the tale. We live ten times longer than an average sentient." Rekto followed to place his hand on the machine. "The Qunaalac kajidic run our fleets. Among them martial traditions haven't died. I was brought up by them, so I've taken to violence far more than those who just excite themselves beating slaves and watching Huttball."

[Rav Devaroo]

He listened intently although his attention was focused on the equipment. "Huh, well that's something I didn't know. Okay, show me how you'd hold it in use." Rav hefted the weapon and handed it over to the big slug.

[Rekto the Hutt]

"Make space then. And give me something to cleave." Rekto grabbed the ax, licked the blade and slithered back with it. Yup, slithered back, like moon-slithered. Due to the muscles the other Hutts almost always neglected and he had honed, he could pull it off.

[Rav Devaroo]

Rav grabbed a piece of broken piping and threw it up and at the big Hutt. However it stuck the metal it would fall onto nonessential equipment or the floor.

"Go for it."

He flicked the goggles down and watched.

[Rekto the Hutt]

As the pipe was flying his direction, the Hutt milled the weapon and in a series of swings he cut the pipe in several places. Ringing hollowly, cut-offs scattered on the floor.

The pipe fell in three pieces. Rav nodded, satisfied.

"Alright, you're pretty handy with that thing. I see what you need though. Put it down here I'll make those adjustments."

He pointed to the workbench and pulled out a bunch of tools.

The Hutt did as asked and watched, chewing on his digestive membrane as he focused.

Placing a set of tools out on the bench the wolfman got to work. It was clear that beneath the gruff furry exterior was a real artisan, at least when it came to weapons tech.

After several minutes of work and many more of painstaking adjustments, the wolf seemed pleased.

"Alright, check this out big guy."

[Rekto the Hutt]

Hutt had been patient and had taken in the way the Shistavanen had worked. He might have appreciation for Rav's methods but did not say it aloud, at least not yet. He picked up the ax and tested the grip, his triangular head bobbing slowly. "Do you have another pipe?"

[Rav Devaroo]

Looking around he spotted a piece of tubing that would probably just be junked for scrap. Grabbing it he shrugged at the Hutt. It was weird seeing a Hutt that could move.

"This'll do. Chop away..."

He threw it in a gentle arc at the Hurt's head.

[Rekto the Hutt]

The same slashy fury of motion and the tubing fell around in pieces.

"Similar. Maybe a bit better, maybe not. I'll learn soon enough."

[Rav Devaroo]

Rav admired his own handiwork.

"Not bad if I do say so myself. That tube never stood a chance!" He chuckled and started putting his tools away again. "You have fun with that Rekto."

[Rekto the Hutt]

"I'll come with feedback once I I've done some cleaving with it. The grip feels good, but the monomolecular edge might have grained out and needs sharpening. For now, I am pleased. You deserve some reputation for your craftsmanship." The Hutt lapped with his tongue, turbo-swinging the ax some more.

[Rav Devaroo]

"Hey, given the age I'd be surprised if it didn't need more tweaking." He shrugged and got his datapad out. "Well, you're happy. That's...great. And you know how to find me."

Rav fired up the pad and started playing with some designs he'd been pondering but not had 5 minutes to put down. There was a big pile of spare parts and junk he could work with.

[Rekto the Hutt]

The Hutt pursed his chin-like furrow for a nod. "Busy yourself then for now. Await my future calls." He then sheathed his ax, slither-turned and slither-exited.
